Air travellers may soon use in flight mobile calls, internet services using Wi-Fi on both international and domestic flights in India. On Friday, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) confirmed that these services should be allowed in flights in India.

Most airlines worldwide offer on board Wi-Fi services as permitting mobile calls is seen as too much of a trouble for fellow travellers.

"We have allowed both mobile communication on aircraft (MCA) and onboard internet as IFC in Indian airspace. Now it is up to airlines which one of these to offer," TRAI official said.

India is the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets and the fastest growing internet services market too. This step of TRAI is likely to increase revenue for service providers as well as airlines.

No Indian airline has so far to when they will offer IFC on their flights. "Continually reviews its product offerings and this will be reviewed as part of that process." said Vistara Airline.
