In Gujarat, a man born into an agricultural based family in a village of Junagadh district. Meet Bhanjibhai Mathukiya, who has lived like an innovator and spend all his life in such innovations. The journey of Bhanjibhai starts from making low -cost tractors and building over 25 dams across Gujarat and Rajasthan. He also made a mechanism to store grains, ground nut sprayer and more agricultural sprayer.

In the 80s decade, Bhanjibhai understood the problems of smaller farmers struggling growing groundnut and orchards in Saurashtra that there was no need high capacity tractors. Bhanjibhai Mathukiya has built a mini tractor of 10 HP the cheapest tractor of Rs. 1.6 lakh after the problems of the small farmers.

The high capacity tractors were unaffordable for most farmers in the Saurashtra region. Bhanjibhai invented the tractor using a diesel engine with the chassis of a jeep and the priced were too cheaper than the options available in the market. Bhanjibhai's build three and four wheeled tractors on instant needs with the help of his son and nephew, soon more tractors were developing by great demand among farmers.

The innovator has built the first dam on a small river passing through the village. The dams are low-costs than usual ones and also strong and easy to construct. It opposes maximum water pressure and force because of its unique structural mechanism strength.

The total cost for constructing a dam just Rs.10,000 including the worker cost. After building the innovation, many people across the village urged to Bhanjibhai to develop more dams.

For his dedicated innovations, Bhanjibhai was honoured with a lifetime achievement award by the National Innovation Foundation in 2017 and became a part of the Research Advisory Committee for the National Innovation Foundation. He has also represented India at the Commonwealth Science Council in South Africa.
